Therefore, it is unique and original. With handcrafted bamboo frame and blades of natural bamboo color, the canopy is made of a type of Silk with orange background. It features pictures of individually hand-painted tiger and bamboo jungle. Fan collecting was well established centuries ago in China where the leaves were prized as fine examples of painting and calligraphy. Fan leaves, in effect, became scroll paintings in miniature. Fans are exchanged as New Years gifts and on all manner of special occasions. The fan is regarded as wind in wood!! The Umbrella Centre of Thailand formerly made as offerings to the monasteries, the beautiful hand-made bamboo and paper umbrellas of Bosang are now produced in quantity. Still reflected in the work of the skilled village craftsmen is the sheer beauty of a tradition that began generations ago. | |
